Why healthier can still taste better

You may be new to the healthier side of things, and if you are taking time to read this – welcome and Mozel Tov! We’re so glad you’re here trying your best to look after yourself and/or loved ones. There is no shame or blame in this kitchen, just information and good food.

Ever eat something and a few minutes after the craving passes, you feel miserable? How about eating a processed food and feeling unsatisfied, and realizing after that the flavor is lacking? Snack cake, fast food, whatever your ‘drug’ of choice is – it’s all designed to increase that craving and entice you to eat things that affect more than just your taste buds and waist.

Maybe you heard it from a friend. Maybe you’ve heard it from a leader in your life. Maybe you even (gasp) heard it from a doctor! However you came to hear about “it”, we’re here to bake for you so you don’t have to worry about “it”.

What is this mysterious “it”? Well, it varies. It can be ADHD, it can be dopamine defiency, it can be autism, and it can even be diabetes. It can be so many things, but what never changes about “it”, is that it is aggrivated by dyes, additives, unnatural chemicals, and highly processed foods.

If you’re a diabetic that just can’t stay away from bread, or maybe you get that nice hit of dopamine from a good sweet – you’re not alone. I’ve been there, and one of the many processed things that I found that I wanted non-stop is carbs. Dry carbs. Sugary Carbs. Sweet Carbs. Salty Carbs. It didn’t matter, just give me the bread. What I didn’t realize? Most of the flour on the shelves, most of the sugar people consume, and a majority of the fast food/shelf stable sweets we eat are loaded with chemicals to keep them “fresh” longer and in that process strip them of nearly all nutrient value.

What if you could have the best of both worlds though? What if you could have sweats that don’t overwhelm you with your entire recommended daily intake in a single tiny morsel? What if you could eat cakes and brownies, and actually not crave them non-stop because you feel more full? What if you could eat a sweat and actually taste the notes of different ingredients? What if you could look at the back of the wrapper and know EXACTLY what is in it, rather than having to look up words meant to confuse you into thinking it’s healthier than it is? That’s what I’m offering.
